ECO FRIGO
Fagor
The idea behind this new household appliance is to introduce a patch of allotment, a little corner of garden into our modern kitchens filled with ready meals. A hothouse, evidently hot, attached by suction pads to a fridge, evidently cold : use the energy produced by the first to regulate the second. A transparent, glass volume, with its visible contents is installed side by side with an opaque, metal volume with its invisible contents. This is a hothouse which, with its automatic lighting and watering system, allows the cultivation and conversation of vegetables for the kitchen, in a return to a kind of kitchen garden. Here too, this new hothouse element is completly based on the existing element, the fridge, in terms of dimensions, with a view to producing as coherent as possible an element. Inside the glass volume there is a metal framework forming the shelves on which the troughs with pots rest. These troughs are supplied with water by a system of pumps, with overflow pipes to prevent the water running over. The supply of water to each shelf is regulated by a time switch. The shelves are fitted with fluorescent strips to provide the necessary lighting. The result is the introduction of a patch of cultivated garden into our kitchens by means of a mutant domestic appliance, comprising two elements of an apparently opposing nature, a rather hybrid object which aims to link today’s kitchen with a return to the land, albeit on a very small scale.
